Terms of Service
Last updated: 13 July 2026
These terms govern your use of ToneToolkit (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service
ToneToolkit is a free, browser-based set of audio tools: tone and noise generators, a metronome, an instrument tuner, hearing and speaker tests, and volume / pitch / time effects. All processing happens in your browser; no audio is uploaded to our servers. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Safety
Some tools produce loud sound and very low or very high frequencies. Start at a low volume, especially before the subwoofer test, the hearing test, or any tone near the edges of your hearing. Prolonged or loud playback can damage your hearing and your speakers or headphones. Use these tools at your own risk and stop if you feel any discomfort.
Acceptable use
You may use ToneToolkit for any lawful purpose. You agree not to:
- Use the Service to process content that infringes intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party.
- Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, reverse engineer, or otherwise compromise the Service or the infrastructure that delivers it.
- Misrepresent the Service or its results - for example, by republishing ToneToolkit under another brand without permission.
No warranty
The Service is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or non-infringement.
We make a best effort to keep the tools accurate - for example, the tuner's pitch detection and the pitch and time effects are approximations - but we cannot guarantee that any output is suitable for your specific use case. Always review the output before relying on it.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ToneToolkit and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, hearing, equipment, or profits, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.
Files and content
You retain all rights to the audio you process with ToneToolkit. We claim no ownership over your content. Because the Service does not upload your audio, we never receive a copy of it in the first place.
Third-party components
ToneToolkit is built on the browser's native Web Audio API and open-source libraries such as next and react. These components are subject to their own licenses, all of which are compatible with the Service being offered free of charge.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Continuing to use the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service is operated, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
