Online Audio Generators

A signal generator makes a sound instead of measuring one. Everything in this category produces a waveform on demand: a single sine tone, a stack of tones, broadband noise, a sweep across the spectrum, or the touch tone pairs a telephone keypad sends. They all run on the Web Audio API inside this tab, so nothing is downloaded and nothing is uploaded.

Everything runs in your browser. No audio is ever uploaded.

What people use these for

The common jobs: checking whether a speaker or a headphone driver still produces a given frequency, generating a reference pitch for tuning by ear, masking noise in an office or a bedroom, feeding a known signal into a measurement app, and producing a short WAV file at an exact frequency and length to use somewhere else. All of them start with knowing exactly what left the browser.

How to choose

Start with the tone generator if you want one frequency you control. Add a second oscillator with the dual tone generator when you need a beat between two pitches, or a binaural split with one tone per ear. The multi tone generator is the right one when a chord or a custom harmonic stack is the point. Reach for the sweep generator when the question is not whether 1 kHz arrives, but where a speaker gives up.

Noise is a different instrument. White, pink and brown noise cover the whole spectrum at once, which makes them useful for masking a room, for sleep, and for hearing how even a speaker really is. The noise generator keeps the three familiar colors on one screen; the colored noise generator adds blue, violet and gray for the steeper slopes. Both have a sleep timer that fades out instead of cutting off.

Before you trust the result

Two practical warnings. Square, sawtooth and triangle waves put far more energy into the high end than a sine does, so drop the volume before you switch waveform. And a generator is only as honest as the chain after it: any equalizer, spatial audio mode or loudness normalization between the browser and the driver changes what you hear. Switch those off before you trust what a test tone tells you.
